Events

Topcliffe Scouts

At 1st Topcliffe Scouts, we believe that Scouting will give young people a fantastic opportunity to do activities and things that people who are not in Scouts don’t get to do. It’s about having fun with good friends and will offer you new experiences and challenges.

1st Topcliffe Scouts is run by 3 dedicated leaders who hold weekly troop meetings on a Friday evening between 7pm - 9pm at Topcliffe Church Hall. In the summer months, we have our own outdoor location as well. At 1st Topcliffe, we offer a balanced programme which includes Scouting activities, several camps throughout the year and other fun things. Every year we hold an annual Summer camp in August as well. So if you would like to request more information please e-mail the local Scout Leader David Baker at dave@topcliffescouts.co.ukor come along to one of the troop meetings.

Topcliffe Playing Field

A small committee look after and maintain the Playing Field for the benefit of the whole community, especially the children. Volunteers are always welcome. For further information contact Louise Bumby on 524551 or any member of the Parish Council.

Topcliffe Snooker Club

The Snooker Club meets upstairs at the Toll Booth. It has one full-size table and a second, smaller one. Members are given a key so that they can go and play at any time that suits them. It is open to both men and women of 18 or over, and membership is £12, with a charge of 10p for 8 minutes play.

Existing members will be only too pleased to welcome and help newcomers should they need it.

With television having made the game so popular there must surely be some people who would like to play, or learn to if they do not already do so. Anyone interested in joining should contact David Bowman on 577843.

Topcliffe Football Club

This club plays its home matches on the Playing field on Sunday mornings during the season. Their results and league placing can be found in the Darlington and Stockton Times. If you are interested in playing or helping out contact John Heidstrom on 577437

Topcliffe Bowling Club

This year’s season has just begun and, as usual, we are looking for new members. Anyone who would like to give outdoor bowling a try please come along and have a go. We have spare woods so there is no need to buy any. You can play just for fun or enjoy some competition in the JSW League which we play on a Wednesday evening and every other Friday. For more information call Louise Bumby on 524551.

Topcliffe Carpet Bowls Club

The Club meets in the Village Hall at 7.30 every Thursday evening and warmly welcome new members. No equipment is needed as everything is provided by the club. If you are interested to see what happens then just come along. There is no need to commit yourself to membership, just try a few evenings and see if you would enjoy being part of our friendly group. For more information contact either Peter Simmerson on 578273 or Fred Tye on 577022.

Topcliffe Senior Citizens

The Senior Citizens Club continues to meet the first Tuesday in every month at 2.30 p.m. in the Village Hall. Various games are played for small prizes, following which, tea is served and the Raffle is drawn. There is an annual 'Foundation Tea’, and a summer outing, not to mention a Christmas Lunch.

The Club could do with more members, so any senior Citizen feeling a bit lonely, please come along and be made welcome. You will be in good company and should have an enjoyable time. For further information contact Dorothy Hunton on 577452 or Kath Collinson on 577309.
